(Capsicum annuum) Small to medium sized, blocky and pointed peppers can grow to 2-4". Fruits ripen to red and have a unique spicy-sweet flavour with low to no heat.
The name piquillo means "little beak". Traditional tapas pepper- piquillo peppers, grown in Northern Spain are roasted over open fires, then peeled and packed in jars or tins. The roasting of the pepper gives it a rich, spicy-sweet flavor.
Piquillo peppers are served stuffed as "tapas" or included in soups as well as other dishes.
