King of the North
(57 days green, 64-70 days red) This variety was listed by Harris Seeds in 1934, not sure how old it is. It is known as an old standby in Vermont and the Maritimes, where the season is short and cool; Seed Savers Exchange say it is the best pepper for northern gardeners. This a very sweet, long, multi-lobed bell pepper that ripens to red. Wonderful for stuffing or eating fresh. Very prolific. Given 2014's cool rainy summer, it never hurts to hedge your bets by planting some of these.
