(C. annuum) (85 days) From Bengal - probably the most popular pepper in India and heavily used in cooking there. Fruits grow to about 4", with a slender and wrinkled shape. Flavour is very hot, plants bear heavily and fruits ripen in stages--contributing to its ornamental appearance. These peppers are used green in Indian dishes and pickles, but do ripen to red eventually. Very thin skinned, they will dry easily, and each plant produces a tremendous number of peppers.
