Celery, Tall Utah
Tall Utah is an old reliable celery that is relatively easy to grow from bedding plants. If you like, you can try to grow "grocery store" celery, by tying the plants and hilling up dirt around the stalks to blanch them- but its a fair bit of work and you may not find it worth the effort. Also you have to watch for slugs.
We grow celery in our garden for its flavour; grown for flavour and not as a swizzle stick for your Caesar its much easier- just set your plants out about a foot apart and keep them well watered- celery doesn't like to dry out and may bolt if the plants get too dry. You can use the plants any time you like, and if you cut stalks off the plant as needed it will keep growing. Celery gets sweeter after a frost and can be kept in the garden under a straw much well into the winter. Tall Utah is a stronger flavoured celery better for cooking.
Sold in packs of 4 plants.
